Time To Get Your “Ducts” In A Row
Clean air ducts mean clean air moving through your home. It’s that time of the year to get your “ducts” in a row! Your energy bills are sure to spike in the coming months. Although obvious, but unwelcoming, news – your energy bills will be going up. Unfortunately, there are few ways to avoid this inevitable truth, but there are steps you can take to get your “ducts” in a row and save money at the same time.
Since your home’s duct system is the method in which your home receives its heating and air conditioning, keeping those ducts clean will have an impact on your energy bill. As boring as it sounds to keep those ducts clear, it is imperative that you take those necessary steps to clean and seal your ductwork.
One of the first things to do is to make sure there are no obstructions in your duct system. An obvious solution to keep a steady airflow and heat your home properly is to remove any of those obstructions internally in the ductwork as well as making sure your vents are open and have enough room to breathe.
Another problem you may have, but don’t even know about, is cracks or holes in the ductwork. It may be that whoever built your home and/or installed your ducts did not seal them properly around the joints and braces. All that warm air traveling through the ducts is lost in the attic or crawlspace. In turn, your home isn’t as warm as it should be so you turn up the thermostat and in a vicious cycle, more warm air escapes – along with your money! Not to mention that your HVAC equipment is working harder than it has to.
