What Does SEER Stand For?
When looking or talking about getting a new system, you will likely hear the term SEER. But what does SEER stand for?
S- Seasonal
E- Energy
E- Efficient
R- Ratio
SEER is a type of measurement in the HVAC world to tell the energy efficiency of a system. For example, Trane sells systems from 14-22 SEER. An 18 SEER system is more energy efficient than the 14 SEER. The 18 SEER will be more expensive, however, you would save money on your energy bill in the long run. Pay attention when your technician mentions the SEER of your system(s) and/or potential system(s).
Please do note that there are other factors that will differentiate how efficient a system is. Is the system old? Are all parts well maintained? Is the ductwork the correct size? There are many factors to keep in mind.
